Honestly it was a pain but in the end I’ve managed to cop a pair of the Comme de Garcons PLAY Converse edition.
How? Well with a huge dose of patience and hope.
The search of this pair started 2 months ago… Whilst I was scrolling through some Tumblr pics I came across a snapshot of a guy wearing them and boom… Love at first sight!
I started digging the web trying to figure whether I still had some chances to buy them at their original price. Ebay is always my very last option.
Taking a step back… What is this collab about?
COMME des GARÇONS and its PLAY imprint have once again linked up with Converse last year following up their popular collab with a brand new set of footwear. Whereas the past release made use of the Chuck Taylor, the latest collaboration features both high- and low-top takes on the premium ’70 version of the silhouette.
The kicks stay true to their predecessors.
Once again appearing in both black and off-white colorways while the PLAY logo has been blown up into oversized form this time around. The full collection had launched exclusively at Dover Street Market London, Dover Street Market New York before hitting additional CdG stockists the following day.
I had obviously missed that day ouch! I felt I somehow had to catch up and grab a pair.
After a week of painful digging I found them on Nordstrom.com but guess what? They ship them from US = custom duties + item on backorder. So be careful when you order something on Nordstrom because they show the items as available.
Plenty of them need to be replenished by the suppliers and delivery might be a pain with “sorry-dear-customer” emails bouncing back and forth in your inbox.
Anyway for those wondering if these beauties are still available somewhere you can try with the following website and cross your fingers if any restock occurs:
